Inside Mass NOW: Meet Brianna Suslovic
"The soul of our politics is the commitment to ending domination." — Bell HooksThis is Brianna Suslovic's favorite feminist quote. She joined the organization in late 2017 as its Co-VP of Community Engagement. Here, Suslovic discusses Mass NOW's mission and gives advice to young feminists.
Q: What inspired you to join Mass NOW?
A: I was inspired to join Mass NOW as a social worker who could see firsthand the impact of policies on a state and national level. As a social worker, I feel that part of my ethical responsibility to my clients involves advocating for a better legislative future for us all.
Q: What part of the NOW mission are you most passionate about?
A: I'm incredibly passionate about NOW's racial justice mission component. As a woman of color, I think that talking and acting together in the name of racial justice is essential in order to resist all forms of oppression.
Q: What advice would you give to young feminists feeling discouraged by today's political environment?
A: Get involved! There are so many local and state-level organizations doing incredible legislative and direct action work right now—they need us in order to make this movement sustainable!
