The Senate UNANIMOUSLY Passed the I AM Bill

Senator Jehlen speaking in favor of the I AM Bill on the Senate floor.

This March marks three years since Mass NOW first convened the MA Menstrual Equity CoalitionYesterday, the MA Senate voted unanimously to pass the I AM bill!

This Senate vote is a historic marker for Massachusetts feminist policy. This is the first time menstruation and period poverty are discussed as public issues on the Senate floor. This vote signifies a huge step towards remedying the financial burden so many people who menstruate bear.

Thank you to the hundreds of people who have written your legislator in support of the I AM Bill, shared your stories about period poverty, and continue to organize menstrual product drives around the Commonwealth.

Menstrual dignity is a human right. Join us in calling on Speaker Mariano to bring the I AM Bill to a vote in the House so in Massachusetts we can finally say: the state will provide menstrual products just like it does toilet paper in schools, shelters, jails and prisons statewide.
